On March 7th, women from San Dionisio del Mar informed themselves about their rights to land ownership and other rights, which are related to their appointment as “comuneras”. Candelaria Castellanos, the coordinator of Codigo DH, and Rosalinda Dionisio, who are both lawyers and human rights defenders, explained the ways to be recognized as comuneras and as settlers and the meaning of inheritance rights.
At the workshop the president of the Comisariado de Bienes Comunales and the General Assembly of the community welcomed the comuneras, the committee of promoters and women interested in learning about this important topic.
It is worth mentioning that San Dionisio del Mar remained without agrarian authority since 2018 and currently has a series of pending tasks in pursuit of the defense of its territory.
