After five years without communal authorities, this Sunday, February 12th of 2023, the town of San Dionisio del Mar in the Istmo of Tehuantepec, carried out the election of a new communal property commissariat (comisariado de bienes comunales), which took place with a white balance.

Men and women responded positively to the call for a meeting, following the protocol of the process and giving the vote of confidence to Professor Rusbel Pablo Ramirez, who obtained the majority of votes.

The elected candidate was endorsed for the first time by the General Assembly of the People of San Dionisio del Mar, which is also an active member. This process is of great significance for the community that for more than a decade has struggled to exercise its right to land and territory.

In this context, Pablo Ramírez acknowledged the work of the community in defense of human rights, which he said he will continue to promote.

Likewise, as elected commissioner, he spoke out against the mega-projects that threaten the area, which are carried out mainly by wind energy companies, assuring that during his administration there will be consensus and dialogue with the population to make decisions and a program of meetings that involves the entire population of the town.
