Last Friday, March 21, the workshop “Between Women: The Stories We Want to Tell” was held, creating a space for women from Salina Cruz to share some of their life experiences in a safe and supportive environment. For the second time, the sewing workshop Gunná gula sá opened its doors to us.

During this workshop, the participants had the opportunity to open up and talk about aspects of their life, whether from their past or their present, always with the freedom to share what they felt comfortable saying. This workshop was a space of connection where everyone could tell their personal stories to create a space of mutual support with the idea that they see they are not alone in their struggles.

Thought-provoking questions from psychologist Laura Melchor included “Who am I?”; “Where do I come from?”; “What is my path?”; and “What do I recognize myself as?”. Through these questions and different activities, the participants were encouraged to express their feelings and thoughts in a free and creative way through drawings or writing letters.

At the end of the workshop, the women began to create individual projects, like a podcast, embroidery, photo embroidery, or different ideas that the participants chose. They can work on this product during the next meeting.
