As part of the Youth Violence Prevention Project, on Tuesday, May 13th, we conducted the participatory diagnostic activity “Recognizing Violence” together with students from Technical Secondary School 188, located in the community of San Dionisio del Mar.
With the goal of identifying the types of violence present in their environment, the students mapped their community by creating drawings that illustrated their social and communal spaces, highlighting the forms of violence they experience in each of them.
This participatory diagnostic marks one of the first approaches with the student community of this coastal town. We will continue to work with them on various topics aimed at promoting the recognition and strengthening of their human rights as youth and adolescents, contributing to the prevention of increasing violence in the region of Istmo de Tehuantepec.
The results of this activity revealed key topics of interest for the youth, which will shape future activities—such as school bullying, identity, and the environment—approached through a gender-sensitive, anti-racist, and human rights-based perspective.
